I-70 in Denver Area Overview
Now that the Central 70 project is complete, the next phase of this project will include maintenance and operations of the Interstate 70 corridor in Denver.
The location of this area is on I-70 eastbound and westbound from Mile Points 274 to 283.50 from east of I-25 to Chambers Road in Denver and Adams counties.
Travel Impacts - May 2025
Lane closures over the weekend of May 9 on eastbound I-70 in central Denver are required for repairs to a section of stormwater pipe under the roadway.
Work will take place on I-70 from I-225 interchange to Chambers Road at the following time and locations:
When: 8 p.m. Friday, May 9 through 5 a.m. Monday, May 12
- Eastbound I-70 left lane closed
- Eastbound I-70 Express Lane closed
- Westbound I-70 left shoulder closed
While work is expected to wrap up by 5 a.m. Monday, May 12, there may be ongoing closures of the eastbound I-70 Express Lane through 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 13. The westbound I-70 left shoulder is expected to be closed through Friday, May 23.
Significant delays are expected, and motorists should plan to take an alternate route. Please be cautious when driving through this area and be prepared for slowdowns. Go to COtrip.org for the latest information on lane closures and road conditions.
About the Contractor
For the next 30 years, contractor Kiewit Meridiam Partners is responsible for operations and maintenance of I-70, and will be completing the final turn-over requirements. Project priorities includes general maintenance like snow removal, lane striping, pot-hole repair, signage repair.
